  It was the first time they had come together in complete joy, without guilt robbing them of much of it. Andi had thought that what he had brought to her at the cabin was the penultimate, but she soon found that she was wrong—very, very wrong.

  Rory took his time with her, rhapsodizing over every inch of her, tickling her, making her laugh, making her gasp, making her grab for him as the only solid thing in her world as he took her to new and almost frightening heights.

  Afterwards, as they lay in each other's arms, he stroked his fingertips up and down her skin as if he couldn't believe she was there with him, and that he felt free to actually do that to her.

  When their breathing had returned to normal, he pushed himself to ask her something that he wasn't at all sure how she was going to react to, but he had to ask regardless.

  "Andi?"

  "Yes, Roar?"

  "When will you marry me?"

  She sat up to look back at him and couldn't have looked more

  shocked. "What did you say?"

  "I said, when will you marry me?"

  Andi thought for a moment. "Not 'will I' but 'when will I'?"

  He nodded eagerly. "Yeah, I'll let you choose when within certain parameters, but I'm not about to give you the choice about whether or not you're going to. That's a given."

  She snorted. "It is?"

  With just one sharp tug on her arm, she found herself over his lap, her bare, vulnerable bottom covered by his threateningly tapping hand. "Yes, it is."

  Epilogue

  They arrived at the cabin in good time, made it up the stairs with their burdens and into the relative warmth, which Rory immediately set about bumping up for her comfort, after securely locking the door, of course.

  No one, least of all them, wanted a repeat of what had happened last year, even if it wasn't snowing this time around.

  Andi set about putting away the groceries. They'd brought all of their favorites for a few dinners, plus cheese and peanut butter crackers, granola, Wise White Cheddar Popcorn, gummy bears, and booze, their emergency larders having long since been restocked.

  When they were done, Rory insisted that they disrobe to make it as realistic as possible, and then they collapsed onto the couch and into each other's arms.

  "Can you imagine that it's been a year since the blizzard?" Andi marveled as he handed her a glass.

  He grabbed his own and pulled her more tightly to him. "I can't. But I can say that every single second of it has been bliss, with you, Mrs.

  McClean."

  She still blushed frequently for him, and he adored that.

  "Thank you, Mr. McClean," she returned.

  After a short silence, Rory drew a breath and raised his glass. "To my Elizabeth, and our old traditions, the ones that brought me, roundabout, mind you, to my Andrea, and our wonderful new ones."

  "Here, here," Andi agreed, raising her glass and touching it with her husband's before taking a big sip.

  Which she promptly wanted to spit back into the glass.

  "Rotgut?" she looked down at him, aghast.

  He looked decidedly mischievous and completely unrepentant. "Well, we wanted it to be as close to what it was like last year and last year we had horrible, cheap whiskey."

  Andi sighed, knowing she'd said just those words to him not long ago

  —that she wanted it to be as close to their first time together as possible.

  What an idiot she was.

  "Roar?" she wheedled, fiddling with his shirt.

  "What?" he asked, as if she was bothering him.

  "Tell me you're just kidding and that you brought a big old bottle of the good stuff, please."

  He was markedly silent.

  Andi sighed, and he had to laugh at her cute pout, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her down on top of him. "I'm sorry, little girl, but I didn't. Next year, I'll bring a pint of the cough medicine and the rest'll be our favorite." He nuzzled her temple and growled in compensation, "But I bet I can make you forget that it's not the good stuff in pretty short order."

  With that, he tucked her beneath him, and proved himself very, very right.
